Arvind Kejriwal in Crisis as Delhi CM
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is currently in judicial custody for his involvement in a liquor scam. Before being sent to Tihar Jail, Kejriwal mentioned in court that his cabinet colleagues Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bhardwaj were responsible for reporting, not party spokesperson Vijay Nayar. This has sparked speculation that Kejriwal’s move is a gamble to secure his position as CM and create uncertainty in Delhi politics.
The Bihar Model Dilemma
Arvind Kejriwal is faced with a dilemma similar to the Bihar model where Laloo Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar implemented different models to handle difficult situations. The Laloo model involved appointing his wife Rabri Devi as CM, while Nitish Kumar chose to step down and appoint Jitan Ram Manjhi. Kejriwal must decide between the Manjhi and Rabri models, making it a challenging decision for him.
Choosing the Right Model
Kejriwal’s options are to follow the Manjhi model where he appoints Atishi Marlena or Saurabh Bhardwaj, or opt for the Rabri Devi model by appointing his wife Sunita Kejriwal as CM. However, both models present challenges and allegations of nepotism. Kejriwal is in a difficult position and must carefully consider his next move to maintain his political standing in Delhi.
